うちわ
うちわは竹の骨組みにしっかりした紙をはった扇です。もともとはあおいで、涼しい風をおこすための道具ですが、盆踊りの小道具としてもつかわります。他のタイプの座です「せんす」がありますが、これは折り畳みできるので、携帯に便利です。
Paperfan
An uchiwa is a fan, which is made by spreading firm paper over a bamboo frame. Although it is basically a device to stir the air to generate a cool breeze, it can be used as an accessory for a bon dance. Another type of Japanesse fan is called a sensu. It is a folding-type fan and is handy to carry around.
